07.09.2007 | AIRBRIDGECARGO AIRLINES TO COMMENCE BOEING 747F OPERATIONS TO TOKYO

AirBridgeCargo Airlines, the scheduled cargo airline of Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group, will commence Boeing 747F services from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport to Tokyo’s Narita Airport on September 7th 2007, expanding its presence to and from the Japanese market.

ABC launched services to Nagoya in early 2006 as part of a long-term relationship with Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA). It now operates three flights a week to Nagoya.

The launch of services to and from Tokyo follows successful negotiations between the Russian and Japanese aviation authorities. ABC will initially operate one flight a week on the Moscow-Tokyo-Krasnoyarsk route but the new aviation agreement also allows for further expansion of AirBridge operations to and from Narita between 2008 and 2010. These extra services will provide outstanding expansion opportunities for the airline as it strengthens its position in the region.

As part of the development of its business partnership with NCA, ABC will also provide its clients with additional cargo capacity on board NCA’s existing twice-weekly flights from Tokyo to Frankfurt via the AirBridge hub in Krasnoyarsk in the Russian Far East.

Narita is one of the world’s largest cargo airports, ranked third in terms of freight throughput. Some 100 cities in 40 countries are connected to the airport, located 65kms from the Japanese capital. AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Nippon Cargo Airlines began co-operating in October 2005 when NCA was appointed as ABC’s general sales agent in Japan.
